Teacher Ron was very involved in planning pirate days with his colleagues and actively participating through the years. Pirate days include many learning opportunities including maps, weather, compasses, sailing, music, imaginative play, dancing, singing, knot tying and more.
Pirate Ron arrived on campus in costume and in character as a friendly pirate. He often had a “bird” side-kick perched on his shoulder too. The kids were enthralled with Pirate Ron, and he thoroughly enjoyed being a part of our pirate days.
Honoring Teacher Ron and Improving The Environment For Students
In August, our staff discussed building a pirate ship/performing arts stage to compliment our activities on a year-round basis. Teacher Ron was very enthusiastic about it and looked forward to it becoming a reality. We want to proceed with our vision. We wish to christen the ship The Captain Ron in his honor and for all the children whose lives he helped enrich, and for those that may be enriched by his ship.
Raising Funds, Supplies and Assistance
We will need to raise the funds to make this a reality. Costs and design are being finalized now. We will offer the opportunity to contribute a plank to the ship and contribute other parts of the ship. Each contribution will include your child or family’s name on it as a donor. The donation cost for each of these items will be provided soon. We are considering art auctions and other fundraising ideas. We will also need contributions of special paints and supplies along with help to build it.
