Science and nature experience at Agua Hedionda Lagoon Discovery Center

Students recently visited Carlsbad’s Agua Hedionda Lagoon Discovery Center to learn about the lagoon, plants, animals, reptiles, birds, and the surrounding environment.
Discovery Center Educators led children on a trail hike along the lagoon.  Students learned how to tell the difference between coyote and dog prints, spot sage, and identify other wildlife and plants. Once back at the Discovery Learning Center, students enjoyed a hands-on learn, see and touch animal lesson to learn more about the wildlife that calls the lagoon home.  Students  learned how being environmentally sensitive benefits wildlife and our community.  Each student also enjoyed making a tote bag using up-cycled tee shirts.

Visiting venues like the Agua Hedionda Lagoon Discovery Education Center helps support our lessons and provides students with a better understanding of our community.
