About the teachers at La Costa Valley Preschool & Kindergarten
All the teachers and staff love nurturing and growing young minds with the goal of helping our students achieve and succeed in their educational careers but also at the same time nurture their “whole person growth” though enrichment experiences .
Ms. April has been successfully teaching since 1996. The majority of her experience is with two and three year old children. She is friendly, knowledgeable, enthusiastic and passionate about teaching. She just “is” an amazing teacher at first glance. Seeing is believing. She has earned her early childhood education site supervisor credentials and she is continuing her education. Ms. April is also one of our assistant directors. She and her family are “native” locals.
Ms. Hope has been successfully teaching and supervising since 1984. She earned her children’s occupations certification and has completed a number of additional courses and seminars in early childhood education. She continues to participate in numerous learning opportunities. Her students and their families love Ms. Hope- for good reason. She is an amazing teacher. She challenges her students and provides a nurturing and exciting environment. She also coordinates high school student observation and participation experiences with the child development faculty from our local high schools. She and her family are “native” local residents.
Ms. Nikee has been successfully teaching preschool and pre-kindergarten since 2000. She has completed extensive coursework in early childhood education and is continuing her education. She is friendly, enthusiastic and dedicated to being the best teacher she can be for young children and their families. She is happy and peppy and brings a smile to all those around her. She is quite the artist too. Ms. Nikee’s youngest son attends La Costa Valley Preschool & Kindergarten
Mr. Ron began his teaching career with us in 1991. He is our science and technology teacher. He has earned his master teacher certification and has worked locally in a variety of private, state and federal preschool programs through the years. He has experience with both Montessori and developmental curriculum. He has been a favorite teacher for all his amazing hands-on science and technology activities through the years.
Ms. Joan teaches our kindergarten/kindergarten early entry program, academic summer kindergarten preparation/kindergarten enhancement program and instructs our Art and Reader’s Club enrichment programs. Ms. Joan is a credentialed teacher and has more than 27 years of successful teaching experience with kindergarten and first grade students. She has been named Arizona teacher of the year along with many more accomplishments. She is also a published children’s author and illustrator and has created, produced, staged and directed numerous children’s plays. Ms. Joan’s passion for teaching is evident the first time one meets her.
Ms. Rita has been teaching preschool in North County since 1984. She earned her child development programs teaching assistant, preschool teacher and director certificates. Ms. Rita thrives on the excitement she observes in the faces of the children as they are learning new things and enjoying their classroom and friends. Ms. Rita is well known for her educational and fun flannel stories she creates and shares with her students. Ms. Rita’s husband and their two daughters are proud of Ms. Rita, her profession and the joy of learning she brings to students and their families daily..
Ms. Maizie joined our school in 2009 having assisted and taught preschool students. Ms. Maizie combines the special qualities of warmth and enthusiasm for teaching along with her continuously demonstrated dedication to her students’ growth , excitement for learning and well being . Ms. Maizie has earned her child development certification as an instructor and is continuing her education.
Ms. Myra earned her degree in Child Development and her outdoor specialist certifications from California State University Stanislaus. She has taught infant, toddler, preschool and pre-kindergarten classes as a teacher and lead-teacher. Ms. Myra is passionate about the outdoor learning environment including gardening. Ms. Myra and her husband have raised two children and are now enjoying the bounty of our local beach environment.
Ms. Doreen has worked successfully with preschool and kindergarten age children in a variety of programs. She was awarded her early childhood programs certificate from Maryland State Department of Education. Ms. Doreen has worked with as a utility teacher and kindergarten teacher. She is a creative, understanding, energetic “can do” teacher. Ms. Doreen understands and exudes both teamwork and individual responsibility with her students and colleagues.
Her two children have graduated from our school.
Ms. Jeanne
Ms. Jeanne has been part of our school since 1991 and is a graduate of La Costa Valley Preschool and Kindergarten. She ensures all curriculum materials and program supplies are available. She coordinates on-site educational enhancement programs and enrichment class offerings among a myriad of other tasks. Ms. Jeanne has participated in numerous dance recitals, plays and choral program since she was a child. She has performed locally, nationally and internationally and continues to perform. She coordinates our annual all- student show and kindergarten graduation plus is a key team member in publishing our school books. Ms. Jeanne is also a university student.
Ms. Carole
Ms. Carole is our admissions manager responsible for an amazing mass of paperwork and details regarding student, staff and program operations. She does it all in an amazing organized manner. Daily children stop by to say good morning and good night to Carole. She genuinely adores the children, their smiles and uniqueness. She thrives on keeping parents informed about school “happenings” and helping parents with their schedules, questions, and so much more daily. Ms. Carole knows every child and parents’ name in our school. She is a unique and cherished team-member that demonstrates her care and interest in students. their families and our staff on a daily basis. Ms. Carole graduated from San Dieguito High School (San Dieguito Academy now) in Encinitas and then earned her Bachelor’s degree from San Jose State University. She has been in administration and management locally since 1968. Ms. Carole joined us in 1999 . She and her family are native locals.
Ms. Laura
Ms. Laura is our fund raising coordinator. Ms. Laura works diligently to help raise funds to keep our tuition reasonable, supplies plentiful and show related activities funded and so much more. She coordinates our fund raisers and room-parent program plus she volunteers in classes. She is an exceptional energetic and enthusiastic individual. She is truly dedicated to helping us make a difference by providing all we can for our students and their families. Ms. Laura quietly, but significantly makes a difference for all of us. She is working on achieving the goal of raising funds to create a foundation. This will allow for more funding opportunities which in turn will fund more educational enhancement opportunities for our students. She welcomes others to join her efforts and join in making all the best possible. Ms. Laura has two children in our program, has a masters degree in human resources and has been making a difference for children, their parents and staff members in our program since 2009.
Dick, Nick, Matt, Francisca, Uriel
It takes an amazing amount of individuals to keep all in order at school. Garden maintenance, indoor and outdoor equipment repair and maintenance, grounds maintenance, installation of equipment and more. We are lucky to have a team of individuals that are always available to help with not only the ongoing activities, but those that crop up from time to time. Dick, Nick and Francisca have been involved with the school since 1991. Matt and Uriel since 2009.
